The Jazz Club Presents The Neil Maya Quartet
March 17, 2022 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
| FreeThe Neil Maya Quartet is a collective of some of the finest musicians based in the Southwest today. Dedicated to bringing you the finest jazz-based music, you’ll be sure to have a great time! Join us this Thursday at The Bootlegger Exeter for Jazz Club and see them live!
The band was originally conceived by Neil Maya and pianist Tom Unwin back in 2001. Over the years the band has played at most jazz venues in the Southwest and beyond. The quartet has also toured for rural schemes throughout the country. The band started off playing compositions by both Neil and Tom and re-workings of standards. Over the years, other projects have also developed which have brought in other musicians as well, including: The Brubeck Project, 1959: The Golden Year Of Jazz and Cartoon Jazz. The band has also played other tributes to the greats, occasionally bringing in trumpeters such as Andy Hague, Dave Holdsworth and Robin Pengelley.
Also born out of the quartet is the five piece Jazz Funk Emporium and the Neil Maya, Tom Ball duo.
The Neil Maya Quartet has also gone on to form the core of the function bands, The Drat Pack, Solar and Lush Life.
